Embark on a spooky adventure as Mark and Martha Spencer, a young married couple who had just purchased an abandoned country estate in hopes of restoring it and making a profit. Deciding to stay at the house, they soon realize that they are not alone, stalked by a creature that lives in the shadows. What started as a simple annoyance from their luggage being rummaged through and the smashing of furniture, slowly devolves into a night of terror for the couple as they work together to figure a way out before it is too late!
Dreadful Tales: The Space Between Collector’s Edition is a hidden object puzzle adventure game. Your goal is to interact with objects in the environment available to you while solving the numerous puzzles throughout the game. Be sure to pick up any useful objects that may assist you in solving future puzzles, and you can even combine certain items together to form something that you need.
Pick up items by simply clicking on them, and they will be stored in your inventory. You can combine certain items by clicking on them in your inventory, and clicking the item you want to combine it with. Besides picking up items, you will also need to interact with the environment to progress. This may require you to use items in your inventory to interact with the scenario, like using a bobby pin to unlock it a lock. Special collectibles are also scattered throughout the game in the form of moths and morphing objects. Gather them to unlock extra stuff in the game!
While navigating through the house, you will also come across a number of mini-games for certain situations. Fret not if you are stuck on what to do next, as the game provides a hint option to guide you. Be mindful though that it has a cooldown, and on how often you use it. Wait for a little while, and the game will offer you the option to skip the mini-games should you want to do so.
You can always check your journal to see past notes and any updates in the story that might provide a clue for you to progress. Your character also has a map that can be used to teleport to locations you have previously been to ease movement across the house.
For the best experience, it is recommended to play this game with headphones and lights off. The sounds in this game really add to the immersion that you are currently in an old, dilapidated house, and the background ambiance is surprisingly chilling.
